Paul & Rachel 1946
We all have seen these pictures. Boy meets girl, girl and boy fall in love ~ Magical. Books are written about it, movies are made for it and we all get a little thrill when we think of falling in love. Love is a true confidence booster.
Before my grandfather passed away, I asked him when did he feel the most confident? With a boyish grin on his 90 year old face, he said “ After the war, when I met your grandmother, fell in love and started our life together.” Can you see it? I do. Look at him. The body language, the smile, the energy are all screaming love. His confidence shines.
Confidence comes from experience. It evolves from of our story of success. For many of us, it is the success of love and relationships. For others, it is success of career and adventure. It can be a combination of all of the above. Confidence grows from a place of passion, achievement and the feeling that “anything is possible.”
One of the most confident times in my life was my early twenties. I was leading youth events, meeting new people and growing in relationships. It was like the world was at my finger tips. I could do anything! My confidence pushed me to become myself and to do things that I had always dreamed of. It was a magical feeling.
When I feel most challenged by life, I stop and ask myself “How can I tap into my most confident self?” On those difficult or scary days, I go back to the times of my early twenties: being on stage, in the middle of young love and believing in myself.
It reminds me that anything is possible…
Change it up!
When have you felt most confident about you? Think about it. Re-live it. If you can tap into that place of confidence, you can stand up taller, push yourself a little more, and live life to its fullest.
